About Embark
Embark finances innovation. We advance capital against government incentives and grants an Australian company has already earned but not yet been paid, so that money can do its work now rather than at the end of the financial year.
What we do
Australia funds innovation generously, and it funds it late. A company doing eligible work accrues money through the Commonwealth Government's R&D Tax Incentive and through a wide field of grant programs alongside it. In every case the pattern is the same: the entitlement builds up month by month as the work happens, and the cash arrives once, well afterwards, when a claim has been lodged or a milestone signed off.
That timing gap is what we exist to close. We advance capital against an incentive or grant a company expects to receive, and the advance is repaid when the money arrives. It is not equity, so it does not dilute founders or existing shareholders. It is not a bet on future performance either, because the funding has already been earned. It is the company's own money, earlier.
Our R&D Advance, secured against an expected R&D Tax Incentive refund, is the product available today. Other innovation funding works the same way, and the same structure extends to it.

Startups and established firms carrying out eligible innovation work in Australia. If you are claiming the R&D Tax Incentive, or expect to claim for the current year, the R&D Advance is built for you. If your funding comes through a grant program instead, talk to us about it.
How it works
Four steps: pre-approval, credit review, documentation, and funding. You connect your accounting and banking data for pre-approval, provide supporting documents including your R&D adviser's letter for credit review, sign the paperwork, and receive funds. Current rates, fees and turnaround times are set out on the home page, which is the only place we publish them.
